The thermoforming process

Thermoforming involves heating up a sheet of thermoplastic

material until it is pliable enough to be formed into a

3-dimensional shape from a mould. This is done with vacuum

air pressure or by mechanical means. Once cooled, the plastic

will retain its new shape and can be cut and trimmed to size.

We can use a variety of materials for thermoforming including;

Acrylic, Polyethylene, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), Acrylonitrile

Butadiene Styrene (ABS), High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) and Polycarbonate.
