APET
We now recommend PETG as the direct replacement for APET — clearer, tougher and easier to fabricate for the same display, packaging and protective cover applications.
Request a QuoteWhat is APET?
APET (Amorphous Polyethylene Terephthalate) is a tough, transparent thermoplastic with great impact resistance and excellent thermoforming characteristics. It has long been used as a safer, more impact-resistant alternative to acrylic for thinner display and packaging applications.
EXP Plastics no longer stocks APET. For every project that previously called for APET we now supply PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol), which offers the same clarity and impact resistance with better chemical resistance and easier cold-forming. If you've been quoted on APET, we can match the specification in PETG.

Sizes & Thicknesses
PETG (our APET replacement) is available cut to size in a range of thicknesses, primarily in clear. Contact us with the dimensions from your original APET spec and we'll match it.
PETG: The Recommended Replacement for APET
PETG is a near-identical performer to APET for displays, packaging, sign faces and protective covers, with a few real advantages: it cold-forms and folds without cracking, it's tougher under impact, it's food-contact safe, and it cuts and machines cleanly on the same equipment used for APET. If your drawings, specs or quotes reference APET, send them through — we'll supply the equivalent in PETG, cut to size on the Gold Coast.
