Polypropylene

Description

Polypropylene is a hard, flexible and translucent plastic that can be moulded for many different applications. Its basic ingredient is polypropylene gas, which is a by-product of the petroleum refining process. It main advantages are that it has good impact properties even at low temperatures and slightly increased elongation at break compared with unmodified PP homopolymer.

Applications

Automotive (battery cases, bumpers), blow moulded containers, extruded pipes, blow moulded medical articles, boat bodies, seat shells, clothes pegs, to name a few. It is also used as clear film for snack foods and as a fibre in ropes, carpet and woven fabric.
